Vulvodynia is one of the many intimidating diagnoses women in pain are labeled with. Simply speaking, vulvodynia is discomfort of the external structures of the labia, clitoris, and/ or entrance of the vagina.  If you have discomfort in these areas you are not alone. Researchers believe vulvodynia is grossly underdiagnosed. The source of this discomfort is often multi-factorial involving both physical and psychological aspects.  Incoordination of muscles, poor movement patterns, and our sexual beliefs can play a role in vulvodynia.  We understand that this diagnosis impacts your life in many ways.  Psychological distress, decreased sexual function, strained relationships, and lessened physical activity are all common responses.

Physical therapy can help.  Sandy and Sarah are knowledgeable and compassionate physical therapists that can address the physical sources of your pain as well as help you understand the mechanism of pain to identify a treatment plan that will work for you.
